Certify IMA and TEKS

Instructional Materials Allotment (IMA) and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) certification is created and printed using EMAT. The district superintendent and the local board of trustees are required to certify that the district has instructional materials that cover all elements of the TEKS for the required curriculum, other than physical education, for each grade level, as required in the TEC, Section 28.002.

Follow these instructions to create and submit the form:

  1. On the Start Page under EMAT, click IMA/TEKS Certification for 2012-2013.

  1. The subject areas that require certification appear as checked boxes in the Subject Area Offered column on the IMA/TEKS Certification page. Click each box in the Check to Certify column to certify the required subject areas for the grade levels taught in the district or charter school:

  1. In the Grade Level Certification pane, check the appropriate grade levels taught at your school district or charter school.

  1. Click Save to save the certification.

If any of the required subject area boxes are not checked, an error message appears. Click OK and return to Step 2. The Certified Date Time column updates when the save is successful.

Printing the Certification

  1. Click View/Print IMA & TEKS Certification for 2012-2013. The following PDF certification form appears:

  1. The district superintendent and the local board of trustees are required to certify that the district has instructional materials that cover all elements of the TEKS for the required curriculum. Print the form and present it to the local board of trustees. The superintendent, board president, and board secretary signatures are required before the form will be accepted.

  2. Mail the form to the following address:

Or fax it to 512-475-3612.

When the instructional Materials Allotment and TEKS Certification form is received by TEA, TEA staff will update EMAT to reflect the receipt. Once all prerequisites are complete, districts can begin to order and/or request disbursements in EMAT.
